Reality Always Wins

Gee. Every month people in the financial industry predict that inflation will go down. Almost every month, inflation doesn’t go down. Turmoil in the markets results. It is worth remembering that brokerage houses make money when you buy a security, but they also make money when you sell a security.

There is nothing in the world more obvious than inflation in our current circumstances. Though I’m anything but a savant in these matters, I described it in this space nearly three years ago, when the guys paid the big bucks (though not as big as they once were, because of the inflation they said wouldn’t come) were saying the post-pandemic inflation was “transitory.” They were wrong. They were obviously wrong at the time.

Remember, the effects of inflation are permanent. If inflation dropped to zero, all the price increases we’ve endured would still be with us. And it is both Joe “Bugout” Biden and Donald “Trumplestiltskin” Trump’s fault. They both squandered the future on their attempts to get re-elected.

In 2022, Biden attempted (successfully, though the bloated orange man played his part, by endorsing irrational losers) to win the 2022 mid-term elections by slightly lowering gas prices through dumping much of the strategic petroleum reserve on the market. This cynical political act would surely come back to bite not him but us, and now it has. Also, you may have noticed that oil prices are up again and headed higher. The strategic oil reserve trick is no longer available. This was obvious reality all along.

It used to be that in Utah when you were sentenced to death you had a choice of method of your demise, firing squad or hanging. (For a time beheading was offered, but when no one chose it it was dropped from the menu.) In reality, you’d end up dead either way.

We have a similar national choice this November. It is between a crooked man who somewhat effectively hid his dishonesty behind bone-deep stupidity and who has now added senility, and a crooked man who has gotten idiots to support him in his thirst for revenge against those, tied to reality, failed to do what he wanted. Reality tells us that neither of these bozos has any business being president. Trump, along with some of his allies — Tucker Carlson, dimwit U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, to name a couple — is a wholly owned subsidiary of Vladimir Putin, though Trumplestiltskin claims that no, he wants Russia to win in Ukraine because they did not torpedo Biden during the 2020 election and he now demands revenge. Bugout Biden, who lost our country’s support when he surrendered in the Afghanistan war and has never regained it, is now stabbing Israel in the back in the hope it will gain him radical Muslim votes in Dearborn, Michigan. They are both among the worst our country has to offer, if you add reality to the equation.

You will note that neither candidate is ever motivated at any time on any subject by matters of right and wrong. What they have in common is the courage of a worm. Yet by ignoring the stark facts of reality we will, absent Divine intervention, be saddled with one or the other as still president or president yet again a year from now.

But it’s not just there that we’ve flung down and danced upon reality to our detriment. If you haven’t yet, you should read this week’s stunning, entirely predictable expose on the situation at National “Public” Radio. The situation is just as bad at PBS. Gee, organizations receiving much of their money from leftists in the government parrot leftist government positions. Whoda thunk it.

Reality strongly suggests that neither organization should receive a penny of government money.

For the last several years we have said at our peril the fact that men are not women and vice-versa and that no amount of wishing and whining can alter that reality. And it is a fact. Every cell in your body screams that your sex is the one you were born with. You can no more change it than you can declare yourself 19 years old and have it be true, or (more commonly) being 19 and declaring yourself to be 21. (I’ve tried, in both cases.)

Yet it is now a matter of law in many places. Most famously in recent days it has become a crime in the often-ridiculous pseudo-country of Scotland to state the unassailable fact that men are men and women are women. The law appropriately went into effect on April Fools Day. The confusion may come in part from that fact that in Scotland men often wear skirts. They are called “kilts,” (which I think may descend from the ancient British tradition that cross-dressers are to be kilt). It is an interesting comment on our times that the sanest voice in the discussion there is the fantasy writer J.K. Rowling of “Harry Potter” fame.

Here, there’s big money to be made in surgeries and draconian pharmaceutical treatments that pretend to turn boys into girls or vice versa, sterilizing them in the process. The federal government and reprehensible outfits such as the American “Medical” Association are all in favor of it. The thing is, it is more and more being shown as tremendously harmful. “Clinicians are unable to determine with any certainty which children and young people will go on to have an enduring trans identity,” noted the Cass Report, released in England today. It turns out that most children who believe they were born into the wrong body soon move on to some other popular fad. Acting on their trans*itory!* whim makes as much sense as giving then their head when they want to drink alcohol or stay up late.

(To Bugout Biden, March 31 was not Easter, it was “Transgender Day of Visibility,” as if those characters could be any more visible. To Trumplestiltskin it was Yet Another Trump Day of Visibility.)

Fortunately, more and more states are banning the cruel disfigurement of children whose bodies and lives are destroyed on the altar of “trans-sexualism.” (Which the media falsely call “gender-affirming care,” because the media are, mostly, purveyors of falsehood, as exemplified by the article linked immediately above. Reality and news coverage’s association — at best — occasionally coincide, by accident.)

One benefit, if you can call it that, of the whole “trans” fraud is that combined with other recent events we have learned that the whole pharma-medical industry is not to be trusted. To put it another way, physicians and drug companies will do anything for money, and now it’s obvious.

They have full government support in this endeavor, as witness the prosecution of Eithan Haim. “The whistleblower doctor at Texas Children’s Hospital who exposed lies about the hospital’s administration of transgender hormones for minors has gone public with his identity after federal agents reportedly launched an investigation into him,” reports The Dallas Express.

As if there were any remaining doubt following the vast COVID-19 vaccine scam. As noted in this space early on, the mRNA-based vaccines bought and paid for with your tax dollars (as it seems was development of the SARS-CoV-2 virus itself), has never prevented anyone from getting infected and has never prevented anyone from spreading the disease, but the vaccine itself has sickened a lot of people and has killed others. (You’ll notice that Biden, fully vaccinated, and his wife, not-a-real-Doctor Jill, fully vaccinated, both got the disease. The well known COVID-19 “brain fog” aftereffect was in Biden’s case a pre-existing condition.)

The technology called messenger RNA seemed to have potential when it was discovered decades ago. But all of the efforts to make use of it failed. “RNA was considered too hard to work with, too unstable, and the whole idea too full of fresh problems that would have to be worked out along the way, compared to other options for the time and money,” wrote Derek Lowe in Science in 2021, when mRNA was going to save us all. “And as we've seen with viral vaccine side effects (Guillain-Barré, myocarditis), the human population varies enough that in small numbers of people you're going to see misfires even when you target a virus.”

SARS-CoV-2 presented a huge opportunity: a world desperate for something, anything, that would save us from the certain death of COVID-19. (Except it wasn’t certain death. In sheer numbers it wasn’t much different, adjusted for population and mobility, from the 1918-19 influenza pandemic.) The pharmaceutical industry, especially Pfizer and an outfit called BioNTech, as well as Moderna, were quick to capitalize on it. With full government support and “vaccine” mandates from schools and businesses, the companies raked in the cash, for a product that did no apparent good and sometimes did harm. Executives made lots of money. (Dr. Jonas Salk and Dr. Albert Sabin, who came up with the vaccine that really does prevent polio, did not get rich from it. Wealth does not seem to have been their motivation.) Recently it has come to light that Pfizer’s Paxlovid is also fairly ineffective at treating COVID-19 among those who have the disease after having been vaccinated.

Was reality consulted during any of this? Apparently not. At least not the reality of the goals stated to you and me.

Everywhere you look, in every issue large and small, we are being asked to deny the witness of our own eyes, the reasoning of our brains, and trust people and institutions who have consistently put their interests over ours in practically every aspect of life. It is like the privacy-stealing companies that encourage you to agree to their terms of service “for a better experience.” It is your experience, true, but it is better only for them.

We have brains for a reason. We can use them to make our own decisions.

Especially when we are asked to ignore or deny reality. Reality always wins.
