While everyone was busy eating their Thanksgiving dinner, the KDE Project pushed out yet another release of the popular K Desktop Environment. KDE 2.2.2 sports numerous bug fixes and security patches, and is most likely the last release before KDE 3.0.
Some of the bug fixes and improvements include:
- Added support for CodeWeavers' CrossOver plug-in. CrossOver is a commercial plugin that adds support for Windows Netscape plugins to Linux web browsers.
- Icons, file dialogs optimized for faster loading.
- Fixed potential security problems related to KDM and Pluggable Authentication Modules (PAM).
KDE 2.2.2 is already available in binary format for Mandrake, SuSE, RedHat, and Connectiva Linux distributions. You can also download
KDE 2.2.2's source code, which is entirely open source.
