I think we begin to understand each other despite our differences.
However, I would be far more lenient with my children than you. I
believe in intellectual freedom, and while undoubtedly there are some
books, films and other media that I would *ban* for my children, the
Potter books would not be counted among these, and there is a whole
bunch of classical literature too. But conversely, this means that I,
as a responsible Christian parent, should be *present* providing the
Biblical counterpoint; and furthermore, I should be practicing that
Biblical worldview that I so earnestly recommend to them.

I would not use the dump metaphor... I would use more something like a
screening process, discarding the chaff and selecting the traces of
good grain in it.
