Although we are not certain of the sequence of
events, nor what other materials to which he decided
to expose himself, let's postulate that Harry Potter
was reading material after he was already in
existential crisis.

Here we have a classic illustration of Satan as like
a disease of opportunity.  Lurking in the shadows he
waits for a sign of weakness then subtly exploits it.
