The Mexican government only recognizes less that 70of the various
languages of Mexico.. Actually there are about 70 versions of "Mixteco,
and another 70 versions of Zapoteco, and twenty of this and 6 of that.etc.
but he various versions are different enough that in many cases they just
can't understand each other at all,so from the point of view of a spoken
language, we consider them as separate languages.  I'm really not a
langauge expert at all, but working with others, we have figured out a
system that helps us to know which of the various language a particular
person or group  speaks, and give them a recording that is appropriate for
them. Actually the basic systemtha we used was the brain child of ED Young
 -  Toms dad.
