there's the idiocy: they've discontinued printing paper and print 
chemistry, but not film or film developer.

i have a pretty good scanner with negative holders, so i've been [very] 
gradually digitizing more than 40 years of negatives. and given that i 
shot for newspapers and magazines for a couple of those decades, we're 
talking a lot of negatives.
