I don't have electrical power run from the highway to where we park our RV on our lake property yet, so we have a solar battery charger to keep our RV batteries charged up (I think I posted on this before, with pictures, on TechTalk). It works pretty good, if I must say so myself, as long as we don't use the 12 VDC -> 120 VAC power inverter too much.
I've seen those wind generators sticking up on top of a pole on the stern on sailboats on Lake Superior. They seem to be pretty popular because just about every bigger sailboat I've seen on the lake has one.
