Hi everyone,

Anybody have any tips on getting linux - any distribution... lol - to
work on this PC? I got it for a steal at shopgoodwill.com:

Windows XP Pro installs just fine, but I'd really like to get linux
installed on here. The greatest issue with this PC is the graphics. It
has a VIA CLE266 integrated graphics card. Which, according to this
site: http://www.openchrome.org/trac/wiki/SupportedHardware, is
supported under the openchrome drivers.

I have successfully installed a couple variants of CB, but it will
only boot up to a blank screen. The CB strains that I have installed
all use the latest Xserver, so I issued the X -configure command to
generate an xorg.conf.new file that I can tinker with. Well, no matter
what I do, I get a signal 11 segmentation fault.

I have checked to make sure that the openchrome drivers are installed,
and the latest openchrome drivers are present and accounted for.

I have tried a couple of other distributions as well. I have tried
Dream Linux 4.0 beta5. It refused to bring me to the desktop. I was
able to install it from the console, but I couldn't fix the grub
issue, so I couldn't get back to a console to try and fix the video
issues.

I have also tried FC 12. Even though I played around with various
vga=### combinations, I couldn't get Anaconda to display properly
enough to get it installed.

I also tried to boot up into puppy linux. I get to the point where I
needed to configure X, but no combination would get me to a working
desktop.

So...any suggestions?
