Your reference to "however many generations" seems to imply a number so 
large as to be uncountable.  Many family history researchers work with 
an "average" of 3 generations per 100 years.  Darwin published "On the 
Origin of Species" in 1859; I don't expect his theory was "taught" the 
next day.  Therefore, the number is 4 or less generations.

Darwin never said humans evolved from monkeys; he proposed a theory of 
common descent.
