Puppy does wireless well.

With Puppy you don't have to deal with tar.gz unless
you choose to go outside of the DotPup and PETget
systems to install upgrades and additions.

It is a very clever little distro.

The different styles range from MS-lookalikes to
very primitive command line distros.

I like to tinker some but need reliable usability
and found Puppy gives me both.

I am also endlessly fascinated with the way Linux
guys use tcl/tk and Java and Perl and Python to
create tiny app equivalents to those of others in
the Apple and MS world.
