Setting up a SAMBA file sharing network through the router won't work 
well when it's in "internet sharing" mode.  It seems to me that's how 
they get you to buy the more expensive router that handles both an 
internal and external network.

Of course, a router naturally handles internal DHCP so the only reason 
certain functions wouldn't work for an internal network is because it 
has been disabled from doing so.

That said, there is nothing stopping you from setting up an FTP server 
or even setting up file sharing using another method. Just make sure 
that connections are only accepted from 192.168.1.* .

If you view the other computer on the internal network as another 
computer on the internet (albeit a small, local one) you'll start to 
grasp what needs to be done.
