There are several solvents that work rather well. Anything oil-based
often surrenders to hand cleaning solvent (like "Gunk") but it may
require persistence for some stains. For example, I got some black
splatter out of white nylon by letting the garment hang in the laundry
over several days. Twice each day I would rub the stain with hand
cleaner until it finally faded away, then I washed it with the regular
laundry.

Repeated applications of "Shout" might also work. "Simple Green" will
work on some petroleum based stains. Still, I recommend the hand
solvent and patience for the worst stains.
