[CS-FSLUG] `make install` in a fake root directory

Communication problems in the Ark Linux list have brought me and my problem
here where I won't get a link to the Ark RPM tutorial every time I ask a
question :-) .

Prior to making an RPM I want to know what files it will install so I have a
better idea of how the make install script will work before going ahead with
building the RPM, once I've done this a few times I'm hoping I'll have a
better idea of how to do it.

Currently I'm working with tkgate as my first package, I want to know how to
run `make install` and have all the files placed in a fake root directory
tree rather then the read one so I can determine what files are made and
where they go, I have no idea how to do this and Google searches have turned
up nothing usefull on the subject, I'm hoping someone here can remedy this
lack of information that seems to be making my problem all the more
difficult.

Thanks.
