I also forgot, if you have access to a shell, log in and in your home folder 
and stick a floppy in your floppy drive and type:

dd if=/home/*your username*/Mail of=/dev/fd0

where *username* is your login name.

This will write your Mail folder to a floppy disk so if you do have to 
re-install you will not lose your mail.
