Since this is a Christian group, thought I'd throw out my comment that
I've only been a linux user since about May of this year, started with
Fedora 7 using gnome; but I wouldn't use evolution as a matter of
principle. (I don't believe in evolution!) Silly? Maybe.

I was going to try it after I decided I wasn't thrilled with
Thunderbird; but I installed Claws mail; and I like it! At least on my
256mb laptop, it's faster and not as kludgy as Thunderbird, so that's
what I'm using. When I got a new desktop pc (that sits on the floor)
about 6 weeks ago, (amd phenom triple core, 2gig of ram and 250gb hard
drive), I installed CentOS 5.3 and Fedora 11 on a dual boot; though I
spend most of my time recently on CentOS. I'm just fine with Claws mail
here, too.

But there are a couple of KDE apps I run under Gnome; K3B (brasero
stinks!); and I really like KOrganizer. At least under CentOS, that
seems like the best calendar program, and the reminder function works
just fine.

I briefly tried xfce under Fedora 7; while it was more lightweight it
was otherwise awful. Mouse movements were kludgy and slow; so I gave
that up quickly. Oh yeah, I also play around with Puppy Linux now &
then, the newest version 4.3 ran pretty well for me when I tried it
over the last few days.

No Bible software for CentOS though, I did install Sword, after
getting some help on their forums. If anyone wants it, they have a
tutorial I can send a link. Xiphos wouldn't install, it said no sword
found :-( -- I was tired of fussing with things so I just installed
wine and eSword (which won't run) and Theophilos; which does run.

I didn't mean to steal the thread, I figured I'd make my evolution
comment and then added the rest by way of introduction since I'm still
new here!
