Perhaps something about the difference in label produces a different
call. I have no idea, only that running SUSE 10.x, CentOS 4 and 5,
Debian Etch, and Ubuntu 7, it made a difference in how the system came
back up from suspend and hibernate. When my X config said "i810" it
always worked; when it said "intel" it was always garbled. On a couple
of friends' laptops, it cured several other display issues.
