LOL, yeah it would be a bit creepy to tell everyone how many Sundays
they missed. Personally, I was thinking of keeping totals by week. 

You are quite correct - a lot of these programs already exist. A little
glue and presto! - instant application. Well, okay, it's not quite that
easy. But it is faster than starting from scratch.

"remind" is a great program for tracking birthdays. "cron" can e-mail
the day's reminders every morning. If you like to look ahead, also have
remind/cron print say the next two or three weeks. Completely automatic,
set it in motion and let it run for years on end. I love Linux!
