My Shuttle system runs Ubuntu, sometimes it will get as far as the 
bootsplash and then go no further. Restarting it doesn't make much of a 
difference, it just goes when it wants to. Fortunately it's not too much 
of a problem, I haven't bothered trying to find out why it happens.
