That happens from time to time. Try to think of it as a mere annoyance,
which most likely can be fixed, as your question assumes.

Did you know the latest is now NVIDIA-Linux-x86-100.14.09-pkg1.run? I'm
using that even as we speak on my Debian Etch box.

We all had to start somewhere, Bro.

Next boot, hit: CTRL+ALT+F2. That should put you at a console, where
you can type "init 3" -- on most Linux distros that kills the X server,
which is what you are fighting with.
