Try not to get hung up on what kind of site this is; I've chosen this
link because it's commentary echoes my thoughts somewhat.

My question to the list is rather long and involved. I am aware which
ever way this thing goes, we geeks will lose something. I have long
predicted the commercial interests would ruin the Net as we know it.
Whether there will still be a "free" network for us in the back channel
somewhere, or whether the current infrastructure here in the US is
completely borgged, remains to be seen. Assuming the worst -- such as no
more Linux ISOs available, nor system updates via our current ISPs --
what would some of you here in the US do?

I am guessing most of Europe will continue along the socialist lines
reagarding the Net as a sort of commons, and forcing it to remain rather
open. I'm further guessing Australia and NZ, and parts of Africa would
follow the same path. I can't begin to fathom the possible response in
all the various Asian countries.

What are we gonna do?
