I've setup a handful of MDK9.1 workstations in a predominantly Win98
office. Linux users only needed email, browsing, office suite and
printing, so setup was not simplified. Workstations that must have
specialised software (payroll, accounting, etc) were not considered
eligible for Linux testing. Biggest problem was network printer/copier
(Konica, now Kyocera), although printing to network HP4100 was never an
issue - YMMV. Otherwise, their are no major issues. Organisation
standardised on OpenOffice about the same time they were considering Linux
for workstations - removing problems with document exchange (except for a
few die-hard WP users).

The main server in office is NT4, but I have setup up some Samba shares on
both Linux and OpenBSD systems. I have not yet touched the domain stuff
inside samba because NT4 is the domain controller, but this is something I
want to look into changing. Currently, the login scripts on NT40 have "net
use" commands to map Linux shares to drive letters. I understand Samba can
take on the role of domain controller and provide centralised login
scripts, but it's not something I've done yet.
