ex-World Bank CTO: Desktop Linux interrupted

"Now that former World Bank CTO W. McDonald Buck is chiming in on why desktops
without Windows are "financially harder than you think," perhaps the Linux
community will admit is has a problem. "The Microsoft monopoly," writes Buck,
"has such a stranglehold on the tier 1 manufacturers that it is now not
possible for a corporate shopper to save money by avoiding Windows unless
they are prepared to go outside the first tier, or unless the size of the
deal is large enough to merit special treatment." Hey, he said it, not me.
But is it true? That doesn't matter. What matters is that this is how big
customers think."
