For me I am using Kubuntu and all the multimedia stuff works. To get KDE
working on Ubuntu simply apt-get install kubuntu-desktop. Or if that is too
hard download the kubuntu install disk. Do either one. Go to
http://www.kubuntu.org/ and you will find links for the live cd and the
install cd.

As Ubuntu and Kubuntu is free software and things like mp3 and wma are not
open and free software things like that will not work out of the Box in
Ubuntu/Kubuntu.

As a Christian I find it odd that other christians want to violate the law and
want to download codecs to get these formats working in Linux when they know
that they are breaking the law.

How ever if you want to do this in Ubuntu/Kunbutu go to this url:
http://www.ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=58 and look for the tips and
tricks to get wma and mp3's working. It is quite simple.

Also you will find the people on irc freenode channels #kubuntu and #ubuntu
friendly and very helpful.
