I'd consider the PATRIOT act, DMCA, RIAA, MPAA, etc... to be rather dangerous too, wouldn't you? Governments like to take advantage of external threats to take our eyes off what they're doing or being accomplices to. Fred someone in a foreign country might be dangerous, but what about the people at home who are taking away your rights?
