IBM: Vendors must adapt to open source or die
"Businesses that fail to adapt to open source innovation won't be around five
years from now, warns Irving Wladawsky-Berger. Speaking at the Open Source
Business Conference yesterday, IBM's vice president of technology and
strategy for servers said, "The problems facing us are far bigger than any
one company. One of the most interesting revolutions in businesses is how to
bring together the best and brightest to collaborate." That collaboration
means working with the open source community and finding a balance between
proprietary and open source software. IBM has been the most aggressive of the
big companies turning open source development into an asset--and a
competitive weapon against Microsoft and Sun."
