Excellent Question,

Here's the list of place I go:
The Win32 (windows media codecs) can be found:
http://cambuca.ldhs.cetuc.puc-rio.br/xine/

or in source form from the mplayer site:
http://www4.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/design7/codecs.html

The Real codecs are available from real.com (in the
form of Realplayer 10).

Mp3 support is available for most media players (check
their site or freshmeat.net)

You can get the Linux DivX codecs from their site.

Of course, there's also ogg and the free codecs, but
they should be part of any install.

That's all I can think of off hand. I'm sure there's
more.

Gabe
