[CS-FSLUG] This is breaking my heart.

Yes,

I would start with a careful examination of the belief's of the church I would consider attending and how they line up with scripture. Naturally, there will be some adiaphoria (that is to say non-issues where everyone will have an opinion) however there are those essentials that can not be deviated from. Amongst these are: Salvation, the Trinity, Sin (which includes homosexuality), and even the true definition of Marriage.

These, in truth, were part of why I left the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA for short). It appeared to me that they were attempting to redefine the Christian faith and even what scripture said about sin.

I choose to remain in the Lutheran church, but I am now with Lutheran Congregations in Missions for Christ (LCMC). I am not saying that other sects of the christian faith are wrong. The sad truth is that adiaphoria can, in fact, divide the church. Indeed, at least one thing that separates the ELCA and LCMS is an issue of adiaphoria (namely female pastors. I have my own opinions here, but I see no reason to state them here, adiaphoria as it is).

Now then with such being the case, I can only sit and wonder what are the issues that other christian churches struggle with and whether those congregations will stand up for the word of scripture or sit for the word of human opinion?

In Christ,

Christopher
