Well, the WRT54G was in another room, up high on a bookshelf for
optimal wireless coverage. It also served as that room's switch. The
BEFSR41 died this week, so presently I am using the WRT54G but that
leaves me needing a permanent replacement for one of the two units. I
am leaning towards the WRT54GL for the sake of simplicity. I have one
network I manage that has seven or eight WRT54G's now serving as
access points and its great -- if one dies I just pop in another,
identical unit (only has happened once, as I recall).
I mostly want to go to gigabit/N networking for a handful of reasons,
but the big one is moving files back and forth between computers and a
NAS I would like to setup.
I dunno -- I think you've talked me into staying with the WRT54G. I
can buy a separate gigabit switch in a few months.
Thanks, Don!
