[CS-FSLUG] OT:Problems connecting older laptop to wifi

I'm using LinuxMint13 on m y laptop, and my wife is using WinXP on  hers.
Hers is an older HP Compaq with only WEP connectability. Mine is connected
WPA to an Actiontec (PK500) wireless modem. I'm having trouble getting
both laptops connected to the wifi.

I've tried resetting the modem to WEP, but not sure I did it right. 
Haven't been able to find good documentation. I did notice in the meager
"help section this:
"Multi-SSID
Multi-SSIDs allows wireless clients to setup up to 4 seperate wireless
networks through a single access point."

Does that mean that I can set up a separate wireless network using WEP,
and still maiontain the WPA?

Has someone dealt with this problem before? Or perhaps knows of a forum
about modem connectability, or a manual for this modem?
