The Apostle Paul struggled with this very thing, mostly in Corinth. They
had been immersed in the worst of Hellenistic hedonism for centuries,
and just couldn't quite swallow the irrational demands of the gospel.
They choked especially on the shockingly backward notions Paul had on
dressing modestly, on marriage, etc.

Yet it grew by the power of the Spirit.
