"Zees eez a quite interrestiiing qeszion" a french guy would say... but
since I'm swiss i try to answer in plain english :-)

Let's do an inventory of my software:
1 Server: Linux, everything gpled
2 desktops: linux
3 notebooks: linux (one has additionally win2000 on it)
2 wlan routers, 1 proprietary, 1 openwrt (linux)

Let's start with the Routers:
I would know no way to install something else on this cryppy netgear
box... but it does it's job most of the time. Could easily be replaced.

The Linksys-Router is running OpenWRT (freifunk.net firmware,
participating in the city wide OLSR mesh network). I'm quite certain the
the wlan-driver is open source in the meantime too.

Server:
Everyting OS anyway

Desktops:
Opera installed. Could be removed
One of the desktops has DPP (Canon Raw converter) installed. I just like
it better than ufraw. It would be a loss to ditch it entrirely, but
could be done.
On my desktop i have the nvidia graphics driver installed. Don't want to
miss them! I could still use my computer with the nv driver (opensource)
but I would loose 3D-Acceleration.

Notebooks:
- Opera could be removed
- Win2000 could be removed, since I did not use it since over a year.

So yes, it would be possible. I could still do anything I'm doing on my
computer with some loss of comfort. I won't do it because the situation
now works for me.

cya
