This reminds me, the other night I was watching Forensic Files on A&E and the 
detectives could not afford to have a process done to positively identify a 
skull of a person so they looked for alternatives and found the Gimp.

They used the Gimp. They took the skull and matched it up to pictures of the 
person they suspected the skull belonged to. They even showed the software in 
action while the investigator was working and, gave a short narrative of the 
gimp and open source software and what it is.
