[CS-FSLUG] overlapping partitions

If you do have overlapping partitions, then your computer is already in
jeopardy. ;)

To better answer your, could you show us your partition table?

The easiest way to do this, under ubuntu, is for you to run fdisk -l
/dev/[drive]
The fdisk "-l" is the letter L (lower-case)
the /dev/drive will be something like: /dev/hda

You may have to do a sudo:
sudo fdisk -l /dev/hda

An overlapping partition, depending on what the partition is, and if you
have data on both the partitions that overlap, *will* result in lost
data. Basically the end result is that two filesystems share the same
hard-disk space. It is a bad idea to have partitions that overlap.
