There is ReminderFox, an extension that may be of interest
(https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1191/). However I just gave
Sunbird a try, it's still not all there or even as far as the FF/TB
calendar extension is; sadly it doesn't work in Linux yet nor the
latest updated TB version period. So I have now been using Google
Calendar. It does do pop-ups and email reminders to my gmail account.
Using the gmail notifier extension, I don't need to keep the page up
for new messages. Anyone know if there is a way to have it send
reminders to other email besides gmail accounts? I tried the sms once
but it was just the verification process test. I need to check into
the cost before using that option.
