Working at an American University,
I am familiar with college kids. Here in California there are alot of
international students, especially from Asia; The main reason is the
lower cost of education in California. These kids are often following a
dream that was beyond their own country's ability or perhaps wanted a
more prestigious degree. Either way, as a Christian, you must trust that
God knows your dreams. That said, God knows what you want and where you
should go to get it. Be still and take time to listen.
Now, it seems obvious, but you're going to have to attend a college out
of your area. On a practical level, you need to decide, upon God's
leading: the price range that you and your parents can afford, which
schools in that range teach what you want to learn/explore and what
place wouldn't you mind spending the next couple years.
May I suggest attending a much less costly Junior College first while
you discover your calling. That way you can all save money, get the
general ed out of the way and still explore your options. As a matter of
fact, I'm helping my own sister and her friend find work and housing in
Chico so they can attend Butte college while still exploring Chico
state, so I'm familiar with the process. They are both so nervous ... but
making the right decision for them.
So, my advice is to ask God, seeking His wisdom, then act responsibly.
Any way, thats my two cents.
Gabe
