I just gave away a Epson C84 because the cost of their
proprietary cartridges was absurd and it didn't play
nicely with those made by other manufacturers.

Is there a color inkjet that doesn't imbed a chip and
does play well with replacement ink/ink cartridge
suppliers?

I used to use an older inkjet and refilled the large
black cartridge 24 times before the sponge inside
became too stiff to be useful!

I've never tried refilling color cartridges.
