[CS-FSLUG] TD: Hello everyone! Acceptance of the Statement of Faith . . .

Hello Michael,
Welcome to the list, I'm glad Don invited you to come in. Your
explanation of how your faith fits with the statement is truly
wonderful. We've made every attempt to keep this group open to
Catholics and Orthodox, but it is nice to get a confirmation (pun
intended :-)), given that none of the administrators is Catholic.

One little caveat: unfortunately, I did not do my job. The site
still contained the *old* statement of faith until just now. On 9/13,
we announced a new statement, which you can find at:

     http://cs.uninetsolutions.com/statement_of_faith.html

Every effort was made to make this statement even more
ecumenical, particularly giving a bit more room for the possible
interpretation you made of Genesis. Article VII is the only one I
believe could give a Catholic trouble, but we've made it an article
of which adherence is not required, for that purpose (we are using a
statement that incorporates parts of the original posted here, but
was written for another ministry that several of the list admins work
on).

Take a look and let me know if you have any concerns that we
might have missed. Anyway, thanks for that explanation, I shall have
to save that, as I think it would be a good thing to keep around.

I might as well introduce myself, while I'm writing. I'm Tim
Butler (obviously), I'm a consultant and that also does some
journalistic endeavors -- both freelance and for my company's Linux
and Mac site (though I'm presently working towards the dream of
becoming a professor of religion someday). I was raised Evangelical
Protestant, although I've become a self-convert to the Reformed/
Calvinist tradition, particularly the neo-orthodox strain as
represented by theologians such as Karl Barth. I do have a great
admiration of liturgical churches, though, and have a special
fondness for St. Thomas Aquinas.

Though ecumenism is not our purpose, we have frequent
theological discussions (subject headers for those are tagged with
the "TD:" prefix), and I'm sure I'm not the only one that would love
to have another view point join in.

     Once again, welcome!

     -Tim
