I'm running SUSE 9.2 right now, and it comes closer than anything else
for my personal use. My requirements are somewhat in flux. The reason
for the noise I make about sampling so many different ones is the
research I'm doing on behalf of new users I can persuade to leave
Windows. I've made three converts in the past two years, and gotten over
a dozen interested.

My neighbor uses RedHat 7.3 on an older server box donated to my
ministry. The local computer shop owner (before it closed) had a son who
began working with Ubuntu. A little further away, another computer shop
owner uses Knoppix a great deal for diagnostics and recovery. My FreeBSD
articles have gotten plenty of response, and at least a dozen have
bothered to write and tell me of their conversion to that.

I'd still be using FreeBSD if the managing team hadn't departed so
radically from what they had been in the past. Up to the 4.x series, I
was quite happy. It only needed a journaled file system and a few
drivers updated. The newer version is roughly twice the size of the 4.x
series, and the new 6.0 is even fatter.

I may post something later in response to your request.
