[CS-FSLUG] Dead CD recovery

Hi everyone, I'm wondering if their is a cheap and quick way to recover dead
CD's, they are Windows CD's and use Joliet.

The CDs in question are Visual Studio disks I need for the advanced
placement CS course, the school board licensed the software for the students
and after a $20 deposit I got to borrow the school disks and make copies
about a year ago; however, now the disks despite sitting in their jewel
cases after all that time are no longer any good, Windows complains that it
cannot read some of the files and I've gotten the same complain from SUSE
10.0. I don't know what I can do but put in another $20 deposit to borrow
the original disks again to make new copies. Fortunately upon returning the
school disks I get my money back, but it's still a pain in the behind since
I have to wait in line to get the disks and the computer science teacher is
usually out where no one can find him during breaks and after school.

BTW. Is it possible that the CD labels I put on the disks damaged them over
time, the disks sat in jewel cases since the last time I used them and they
worked perfectly back then. I don't know what could have happened in the
mean time.
