Hmmm...  The author of that blog has not followed things like 
Bastille-Linux (http://www.bastille-linux.org/).  There are actually 
quite a number of ways to lock down systems.  I think every distro has a 
way to do it, and there are actually too many tools out there.  :)

 From the security perspective, it is actually much better to have 
multiple ways to secure a system.  If everyone used the identical 
system, then one exploit could be used across all systems.  Diversity is 
a great boon to security.
