Adding RAM isn't really all that difficult.  As far as the RAM you
need goes, you should be able to figure out what kind at

Only buy that laptop if the RAM is easily upgradable.  I'd prefer
having more RAM over most other options.

Fair enough... when I bought my iBook, Apple had a large lead in
battery life over comparably priced models and that was one of the
major reasons I made my decision there, but with centrino now that's
basically disappeared (although the cheaper laptops may still have a
fairly low battery life - it all depends on how important battery life
is to you)
