I am finding in my linux research that Debian is a much better and hardier (stable) distro. I have found Drake to be a bit quirky and not very friendly with my hewlette packard. Deb on the other hand seems to run seamlessly and smoothly on the same machine.

Interesting.  What version of Debian did you install - and what method did you use ('Net or CDs)?
