[CS-FSLUG] Home folder permissions messed up

I've somehow managed to mess up my home folder permissions and now KDE keeps 
reporting read/write failures almost everywhere. I have tried to fix the file 
permissions by running chown nathan:nathan /home/nathan -R and then chmod 
754 /home/nathan -R but that doesn't seem to have fixed the problem.

I'm at a loss about what to do now and having used up every possible solution 
I can think of I'm open to suggestions.
