Well, I just had to symlink /dev/dsp to /dev/dsp0 again.  Now all sound works 
in both Gnome and in KDE.  

The only problem that I am having now is that the system sounds under Gnome 
click or pop at the end.  The sounds under KDE do not have this issue.
