[CS-FSLUG] Rejoice with me: a laptop

God has His own agenda.

Yesterday, my younger sister gave me her old Gateway Solo 2500. The
only restriction was that I could not give it away or sell it. As if I
would! There is no modem right now, but it sports a Pentium II 266,
160MB RAM, 3.6GB drive, a CD-ROM, but a sad little NeoMagic chipset
with 2MB VRAM. I came very close to installing RH 6.2, but I wanted
some more modern features working.

They had it loaded with XP. For now, I have SuSE 8.2 running on it.
That's rather slow, but tolerable. My current purpose is note-taking
when I go to the library, and as a show piece to those who haven't seen
Linux in action. If I am called as pastor anytime soon (resumes are
flying now), there will be other purposes added, of course. Frankly,
I'm a bit overwhelmed by the whole thing.
