Eliminate the tree? Tree=Cross? Last I checked, the cross was made of wood and you can only get wood from a tree, unless science has managed to create wood from something other than a tree. Do not get me wrong, I like manger scenes, but I still like to keep a christmas tree as I see the tree as a precursor of what is to come, but that is just me.
