[CS-FSLUG] Convenience or Conviction?

Okay, guess I am answering two e-mails at once in this one.
I sent the originating e-mail to three listservs. Two of them were Lutheran. One of the groups is called "Confessional Lutherans" and is part a reformation movement within Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. The other group is the Evangelic Reformation District of Lutheran Congregations in Missions for Christ. Both groups are primarily focus with the preaching of the Gospel. Sad to say, this is different than some churches which only focus on activities or telling people how to live and yet do not mention that is it by Christ's word that we are to live. I visited a church I used to attend up here only to learn that not only had thier name changed, but I did not hear even one mention of Christ Jesus during the sermon. The sermon was on how to live a life that is pleasing to God. I have heard similiar sermons in Lutheran churches in which we reminded not less than five times that we must honor Christ when we seek to honor and please God. Now I am not saying that all churches are like
the one that I used to attend and went to visit. However, they were still calling themselves a christian church and yet they did not preach Christ.

My question about conviction or convenience is a subplot in the movie that my wife and I both caught. I feel that it could have been built up a little more, but it is there, however subtle it may have been. Indeed, it seemed to me that only two of the 21st century charactors had any true conviction of faith, the church pastor (though I suspect he may have been in a position where preaching God's law was unacceptable to the church, presuming that he truly believed as it is possible to have a pastor that does not believe (part of the plot from the left behind books)) and the lady from the library.

Well, there is my 1/64 cent worth.

In Christ,

Christopher
