Yes and no, I used up a lot of CD's finding a distribution I liked but now 
that I have it I'm happy, if there were less distributions it would have 
costed less in CD's but then I might not have found one I like. I'm going to 
go with Yes because I've still spent less on CD's then I would have needed to 
if I wanted to upgrade windows to the next version ;-) .

I've been using Mandrake on and off since I started using it with 8.2, My 
major problem with Mandrake is how they set things up so you have a lot of 
trouble changing some settings, for example I did finally manage to change 
the GTK theme with GTK-theme-switch but I was absolutely unable to get the 
GTK colours to match KDE despite that being something that should happen 
anyway in most other distributions.

Thats why I liked linux in the first place, Qt is free under Linux, the "free" 
Windows version doesn't allow you to compile static binaries and aside from 
that its not available for free unless you purchase a book so very few people 
can run your program. The proprietary nature of Windows is chasing off all 
the good developer tools and as a result all the developers are following 
their favourite tools to free/open platforms.
