CHRISTIAN COALITION COMMENDS MAJOR DECISION BY CALIFORNIA SUPREME COURT 
DECLARING 4,000 SAN FRANCISCO HOMOSEXUAL "MARRIAGES" NULL AND VOID

Washington D.C. -- Christian Coalition of America commends the decision today 
by the California Supreme Court declaring "null and void" the 4,000 illegal 
homosexual "marriages" sanctioned by the left-wing San Francisco Mayor, Gavin 
Newsom, beginning in February and halted by California 's top court on March 
11th. The court said that Mayor Newsom did not have the authority to issue 
"marriage" licenses to homosexual couples. The lawlessness in San Francisco 
occurred after a recent referendum in which Californians voted by a margin of 
61% to 39% that marriage is between only a man and a woman. 

This decision comes on the heels of a decision by a state judge in Washington, 
King County ( Seattle ) Superior Court Judge William L. Downing who ruled 
that homosexual "marriages" in Washington were constitutional, contrary to 
the views of the overwhelming number of Washington state's citizens. 

Roberta Combs, President of Christian Coalition said, "Christian Coalition 
applauds the commonsense decision by the California Supreme Court ruling 
'null and void' the thousands of illegal homosexual 'marriages' during the 
period of anarchy condoned by San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsome earlier this 
year. The need for Congress to pass the Federal Marriage Amendment and for 38 
states to ratify the constitutional amendment is more critical now than ever. 
Time is of the essence. The House of Representatives needs to pass the FMA 
next month." 

The American people have made clear their overwhelming desire that marriages 
in America should be between only a man and a woman. In fact, just last week 
in Missouri,a mostly Democrat state, voters approved a constitutional 
amendment banning homosexual "marriage" by the huge margin of 71% to 29%. It 
is anticipated that after the November election, as many as 17 states will 
have amendments to their constitutions prohibiting homosexual "marriages". It 
is time for renegade federal and state judges to relinquish to the American 
people the right to decide the definition of marriage.
