[CS-FSLUG] Wacky thought - Linux consulting

Thanks for the thoughts some of you contributed in response to my
question. Josiah's caution about how I market myself was especially
helpful, since I hadn't considered that.

I've also been reminded that my goal must not be to tear down Windows
for the sake of exalting Linux. (It's far too easy for me to become
egotistical about Linux.) Greg pointed out that "free" software is
irrelevant when non-free software has already been purchased.

I recently asked my church's de facto sysadmin whether there was a place
for (a) making our web site's streaming audio available in formats other
than Windows Media; (b) integrating technologies like PHP and MySQL. He
had little use for the latter, since ASP was already in place, along
with an Access database. (I don't know what function the DB has.) But
he was very interested in including additional streaming audio formats.

As others have said, it's all in the approach. Perhaps I could focus on
helping people make better use of the technology they have (I hate
wasted technology), and incorporate Linux where expedient.
